In Review : Shehrnaaz is all about self respect and we love that

Shehrnaaz is a play which focuses on working hard to achieve your dreams and not compromising on your dignity.
One just cannot stop raving about drama serial Shehrnaaz which has the beautiful Ayeza Khan playing the lead. It is fast paced, interesting and light-hearted. After a tiring day, this is a kind of drama that you want to watch. A lot seems to have happened in the aspiring superstar, Shehrnaaz's life as this week she is about to sign a movie contract with a big production house but doesn’t. Any guesses why? Well, read on to find out.

As you know the purpose of Shehrnaaz's life is to become a heroine and a superstar so she and her Baba ( Sajid Hassan) can stop depending on the designer Naina Pardesy and enjoy a life of luxury. While Baba is a simple man who is quite content with being poor Shehrnaaz has big dreams for both of them.
Having left the pervious episode where Shehrnaaz goes for an audition and gets selected, this week she is called in to sign the movie contract which is being made by Kamiar Khan's aka KK's ( Aly Khan) production house and he is completely smitten by her beauty and personality.

If you remember Shehrnaaz had meet KK while she was going to drop her portfolio but had no clue who he was and gave him hell for bumping in to her. Now finding out that he is the famous producer KK Shehrnaaz mellows down, but only for a second. The proposal which he puts in front has her fuming once again.
The makers ( Hassan Zia & Danish Taimoor) of Shehrnaaz have made a drama in which their main character has a lot of self respect and wants to become famous through hard work and not take the easy way out.

KK offers her the movie as a lead, but also tells her that if she signs the contract then she is restricted to him. He wants more from her then just a working relationship!

Shocked or rather outraged by his behaviour Shehrnaaz lets go off her dream. Taking a stand for her self-respect, she doesn’t sign the movie and walks out.

Here we must give credit to the makers could have taken this the other way too and shown the story to be how bechari Shehrnaaz had to compromise on her dignity to become famous. But they didn’t, instead of with her head held high Shehrnaaz continues to struggle and still hopes to make it big in the industry without taking the wrong path.

This week also saw the entry of Ghana Ali as Sara who manages to attract Sherry (Farhan Malhi) towards her immediately proving that he is not as committed to Shehrnaaz as he shows. But while Shehrnaaz has not openly accepted the relationship she does, in fact, say his name in front of Baba which makes him question her on who this Sherry is.

Going by the promos it seems that Sherry is dead serious about Sara and has even sent a proposal to her house, how will Shehrnaaz react? Well, that is what we will find out next week.
Danish Taimoor and Hassan Zia are the producers of this play and hats off to the actor turned producer for bringing a story in front of the viewers which focuses on working hard to achieve your dreams and for stressing on the fact that being poor is not a criteria for compromising on your dignity.

Ayeza Khan continues to shine bright as she makes each scene worth watching. Sajid Hassan, as usual, is brilliant and Aly Khan who has joined the cast as the sleazy KK also aces at what he does.
So do tune in to Urdu 1 every Wednesday at 8 pm to find out whether Shehrnaaz achieves her dream by hard work or circumstances make her grab KKs hand and be the star she wants to be.
